ABOUT OVERFLOW WORSHIP ARTSA place to create, worship, and grow.
Overflow Worship Arts was born out of a deep desire to see the arts redeemed for God’s glory. What started as a simple vision in the hearts of a few homeschooling mamas to create a place where children could grow in their love of dance in a Christ-centered environment has become a thriving community of young artists learning to worship with their whole lives.
We saw a need for training that didn’t separate skill from faith — a place where dancers, actors, and musicians wouldn’t have to choose between high-level instruction and a Christ-centered environment. Overflow was created to be both: a home where artistry and worship flow together.

More than a performance.
At Overflow, we don’t just focus on what students can do — we care deeply about who they are becoming. Our classes are designed to build strong technical foundations while cultivating creativity, confidence, character, and identity in Christ.
We believe the arts are a calling, and our goal is to raise students who pursue excellence with discipline and joy while using their gifts to impact the world for God’s glory.
Excellence with Purpose
High-level training rooted in discipline, creativity, and worship — encouraging students to pursue excellence while using their gifts for God’s glory.
Christ-Centered Community
A supportive environment where students are seen, known, encouraged, and challenged to grow in both skill and identity in Christ.
Worship Through the Arts
Raising young artists who don’t just perform — but minister, lead, and carry purpose into every space they enter.
built in light of eternityA community that feels like family.
You’ll find laughter in the hallways, worship in the studios, and moments where students surprise themselves with what they’re capable of. We celebrate the big wins — like landing that first pirouette — and the small ones too.
Our prayer is that every student who walks through our doors would leave stronger in skill, deeper in faith, and more confident in the purpose God has placed on their life.
Our Team
Lauren Cushing
owner/artistic directorStarting at the age of 2, Lauren Cushing has over 30 years of dance experience and has taught ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary professionally for 19 years. She earned Senior Company level at Stage Door School of Dance in Patchogue, NY and assisted teaching classes at 12 years old. Her school was admitted in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, had many celebrity teachers such as Rockette Dancers and choreographers of Broadway shows, music videos, and films. She danced there until she moved to Wellington, FL at 15 years old. As a teen she showcased her own choreography in WHS Dance Company, and taught young children in many local studios. After getting married, she moved to the Bahamas and taught dance for Pre-K as well as adults on the Navy Base in which she lived. As an adult she studied various techniques of exercise and received certifications such as RYT-200, AFFA, NASM, and Yoga Alliance accredited certification for Sculpt, Hot Core and Primal Movement Dance workouts. Meanwhile, she studied dance under Rocky and Doreen Duvall of Dance Arts Conservatory and Co-Directed their Momentum Company for two years. After giving her life to Christ in 2018, she was given an opportunity to use her skills for worship. She choreographed many pieces and presented them at churches, Christians dance conventions, and outreaches in desire to see people receive freedom through Jesus. Overflow Worship Arts was birthed from this very desire, and we pray the Lord will use our dancers and teachers mightily for His Kingdom.

Her greatest joy is seeing her family thrive and watching children grow up rooted in the love and truth of the Lord.
Jennifer Mendoza
Dance InstructorJennifer Mendoza is a dedicated educator in drama and dance. She began her dancing journey at the age of 3 and enjoys various styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and contemporary. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Florida International University, where she had the opportunity to perform in numerous productions. A memorable experience for Jennifer was being part of "The Memory Project" in her senior year, where she blended personal stories into a dramatic dance with spoken word.
After college, Jennifer worked with Dr. Constance McIntyre in her liturgical dance company, Revelations Dance Theater. This role allowed her to travel across the United States and participate in a missions trip to Benin City, Nigeria, where she taught dance and worshipped with a local church. Her passion for ministry in the arts began in her youth group’s Assemblies of God Fine Arts ministry and continued with Revelations Dance Theater. Jennifer looks forward to inspiring the next generation of performing artists to use their gifts for the expansion of God's kingdom.

Derrick Hatch
Theatre & Creative writing InstructorDerrick Hatch discovered his passion for storytelling at a young age. But as a teenager, there was one story he didn’t love: the story of his own life. When Derrick gave his life to the Lord in high school, he started combining his love of storytelling with his newfound passion for teaching the biblical narrative. Derrick’s unique education includes a Masters in Narrative Therapy & Community Work from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelors in Ministry from the Antioch School of Leadership Development.
Through his company All Things Narrative, Derrick works as a homeschool educator, story coach, professional speaker, writer, and narrative practitioner. He is also on staff at the Bridge Church as a member of their teaching team and youth pastor.
In this season of life, Derrick’s goal is to develop a Christ-centered theatre program that creates original stories infused with biblical truths and themes. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing drums, and raising ducks. More than anything else, Derrick loves spending time with his wife and three kids.
